RESEARCH SUPPORT ASSOCIATE, Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research-Anderson Lab , to support an exciting team interested in nucleic acid-mediated in vivo and ex vivo immune cell engineering using nucleic acids and CRISPR/Cas9. Will provide basic technical support---under direct supervision--by assisting in experimental studies in cultured cells and small rodents aimed at understanding delivery of the nucleic acids.  Will perform prep work for and conduct basic lab experiments, conduct standard lab techniques, and support lab and/or research projects or protocols.  Duties will include nanoparticle formulation and characterization; cell culture; gene expression analysis (RT-qPCR, ELISA, Western-blotting, and flow cytometry); imaging (bioluminescence, confocal microscopy, fluorescence); rodent experiments (administration, husbandry, tissue harvesting); and preparing/analyzing histopathological samples. May carry out routine literature searches; maintain and prepare laboratory samples, stocks, supplies, equipment, and reagents; perform data input and generate standardized reports using Excel and/or Word; maintain detailed records of experiments; and perform other duties as needed.

REQUIRED: high school diploma or its equivalent; computer and documentation skills; meticulous attention to detail; commitment to exceeding quality standards, providing exceptional service, and producing accurate, high-quality work; ability to follow safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment; and willingness to work with animals.  Seek a self-motivated, highly-organized team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills who is comfortable summarizing and reporting results to researchers. PREFERRED: bachelor’s degree in biological sciences; exposure to a research lab; working knowledge of molecular biology and genetics; and experience in at least one of the following:  bacterial/mammalian cell culture, PCR, Sanger sequencing, Western blotting, flow cytometry, ELISA, RT-qPCR, histology, and ethical and humane use of animals (especially mice) in research. Job #22424-3
