The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) invites applicants for a Research Study Coordinator position for the Trustworthy AI to address health disparities in Under-Resourced Communities (AI-For-U) research project in the School of Pharmacy and Health Professions. We seek candidates who can work with diverse groups of project respondents, healthcare practitioners, faculty and students. This is a full time, 12-month, grant-funded position with benefits. The position reports to the Dean of the School of Pharmacy & Health Professions but will work closely with AI-For-U for project Co-Principal Investigators. Salary is $60,000.
AI-FOR-U aims to develop artificial intelligence (AI) tools that are fair, understandable, and effectively serve under-resourced communities in the health sector. Focused on cardiometabolic disease, oncology, and behavioral health, this initiative combines theory-driven community engagement with cutting-edge AI technology, prioritizing inclusivity and stakeholder-driven approaches.
Position Information:
The Research Study Coordinator will play a pivotal role in the AI-FOR-U project, supporting the Principal Investigator by ensuring that communications, required reports, and project activities are effectively managed.
Responsibilities
  • Coordinating and implementing project timelines in collaboration with the Principal Investigator. Producing comprehensive progress and financial reports to keep stakeholders informed.
  • Managing logistics for meetings, including scheduling, venue selection, and material preparation.
  • Assisting in organizing stakeholder and partner meetings, ensuring effective communication and documentation of proceedings.
  • Collecting, organizing, and disseminating programmatic information to all relevant parties.
  • Facilitating communication between community partners across the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia to ensure project alignment and efficiency.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience in project or grant management, especially in academic or healthcare settings
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Proficient in managing multiple tasks and deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
  • MS in appropriate field.
  • Experience in community engagement and working with diverse populations is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with AI and machine learning technologies is a plus,

  • Effective decision making and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship skills to interact and work effectively with external constituencies and stakeholders including public and private organizations.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding and ability to function within the culture of an HBCU and work with a diverse group of students, faculty, and staff.
  • Organizational and time management skills to keep materials in order, track complex schedules, and follow through with assignments to completion.
  • Demonstrated good judgment and critical thinking skills when handling a variety of procedural and technical tasks.
