Working under the general direction of the Principal Investigator, the person in this position will assist in coordinating and conducting studies designed to validate, using human auditory perceptual testing, a battery of acoustic metrics that will be leveraged for efficient evaluation and development of hearing protection devices. This job involves coordination of research studies, recruitment of subjects, data collection and statistical analysis, and assisting in the preparation of manuscripts and presentations at research conferences.

FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
I.     Research Duties
Assist in recruiting research subjects. Work to meet targeted/planned enrollment goals, develop recruitment materials that encourage participation from important subject populations both on UW campus and in the community at large. In collaboration with the Principal Investigator, evaluate and modify as-needed protocol-specific standard operating procedures. Assist in performing acoustic measurements, including equipment calibrations. Serve as a liaison and point of contact for multi-site research studies. Review relevant literature, assist with preparation of progress reports and scientific manuscripts, and assist with presentation of result at national and international research conferences. Assist in performing data post-processing; perform basic statistical analyses on the research data to identify critical gaps, exceptional results, and/or lack of progress. Facilitate planning and coordination of research team meetings, and maintain open communication with the Principal Investigator. Co-supervise undergraduate students to assist with these projects.

II.    Administrative Responsibilities
Assist in maintaining database of subject contacts. Maintain accurate accounting records related to subjects’ payments. Track subject visit schedules to ensure compliance with protocol requirements. Assist in maintaining all applicable regulatory documents. Promote open communication, accountability and positive, professional relationships with PI and collaborators. Perform related duties as required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Two years of college level course work in a relevant academic area AND two years of experience as a Research Study Assistant OR equivalent education/experience.
