The Health Science Center (HSC) is looking for a Research Statistician to serve as a member of the Psychology and Behavioral Health team. Required Education:

  • Master’s degree in Statistics or equivalent combination of education and experience.​


Required Experience:
  • Four years of related experience in statistical analysis.


Required Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to present information clearly and effectively.

  • Effective analytical skills.

  • Ability to work independently once given a project.

  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.

  • Knowledge of probability theory, regression, and analysis of variance.

  • Experience conducting analyses in the R statistical package.

  • Programming experience on a Unix or Linux platform.

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

  • Experience working with diverse individuals and communities.


Preferred Education:

  • Master’s or Doctorate degree in Statistics, Biometrics, or Applied Mathematics with emphasis on Statistical

  • Genetics or Quantitative Genetics.


Preferred Experience:

  • Four years of related experience in conducting statistical genetic or quantitative genetic analyses.

Preferred Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of multivariate techniques; repeated measures designs; path, discriminant and factor analyses; and
  • structural equation modeling.
  • Knowledge of quantitative genetic approaches such as genome-wide association and imputation.

Job Responsibilities


  • Performs advanced statistical analyses including multivariate techniques, analyses of variance, repeated measures designs, multiple and logistic regression, path, discriminant and factor analyses, structural equation modeling, and genetic association analyses.

  • Prepares project reports and reviews them with PI and research staff.

  • Assists in the design of new projects and the development of grant proposals.

  • Contributes to preparation of conference papers and peer reviewed journal articles.

  • Maintains technical competency and proficiency in relevant research areas through training, literature, review, and interaction with scientific colleagues at technical meetings and conferences.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
