Research Specialist

Dr. Amgad Hanna's lab works on developing novel treatments for spinal cord and nerve injuries. We are currently searching for a Research Specialist to conduct research including animal surgeries, animal care, data collecting, and literature research.

• 50% Conducts research experiments according to established research protocols with moderate impact to the project(s). Collects data and monitors test results
• 5% Operates, cleans, and maintains organization of research equipment and research area. Tracks inventory levels and places replenishment orders
• 15% Reviews, analyzes, and interprets data and/or documents results for presentations and/or reporting to internal and external audiences
• 5% Participates in the development, interpretation, and implementation of research methodology and materials
• 10% Provides operational guidance on day-to-day activities of unit or program staff and/or student workers
• 5% Performs literature reviews and writes reports
• 10% Assists in developing grant applications and proposals to secure research funding

Required
Bachelor's Degree

Knowledge/Skills Required:
-At least 1 year of laboratory or research experience.
-Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
-Previous experience with general lab bench work.
Knowledge/Skills Preferred:
-Hands-on experience with rodent handling and surgery
-Prior experience with immunohistochemistry and flow cytometry
-Prior experience with preparing study protocols and manuals of operations
-Prior experience preparing project reports, scientific manuscripts, and/or grant proposals

Full Time: 100%
It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.
