Position Description


Advertised Job Summary
This position assists in conducting research on age-related symptoms experienced by mothers who are carriers of the FMR1 premutation and have a child with fragile X syndrome. The research specialist will work with the faculty principal investigator and grant staff to assist with a longitudinal NIH-funded research study conducting assessments, managing data, organizing findings, and preparing reports.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in a psychology, communication sciences and disorders or related field, or high school diploma and 4 years related research experience. The applicant must also be willing to travel as part of this position.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience conducting research
  • Direct experience working directly with families of children living with neurodevelopmental disorders or/or adults with neurogenerative disease
  • Experience administering clinical standardized assessments
  • Experience with REDCap data management software
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Work with diverse populations, to include individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

The Research Specialist will conduct assessments with mothers who have children with fragile X syndrome. They will assist with scheduling appointments, recording information, and follow up emails.
