Position Summary
Our lab is actively involved in research designed to understand the functions of the respiratory epithelium and understand how genetic and environmental alterations define the pathogenesis of cystic fibrosis, asthma, and other pulmonary disorders. The primary purpose of this position is assisting in the designing, executing, interpreting, and reporting scientific experiments to achieve specific goals, as directed by the PI’s. Scientific techniques utilized in this position include, but are not limited to, primary human cell culture, confocal and fluorescence microcopy, in vitro biophysical and biochemical techniques, molecular biology, CRISPR gene editing, and biomedical device development. A partial component of this position is general laboratory management including participation in daily operations including ordering supplies, general record keeping, and compliance with health and safety procedures. 
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Ability to follow detailed protocols precisely and be able to adapt protocols using subject matter expertise. The applicant should also be able to follow detailed standard operating procedures (SOPs), possess good written and communication skills, and be able to effectively interact with other lab personnel. Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, and presentation software packages.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Working knowledge of fundamental biochemical, cell biology, and biophysical concepts. While not required, candidates with experience with general biology/biochemistry lab techniques, sterile procedures, cell culture, and microscopy will be given preference. Is familiar with and capable of performing a wide variety of laboratory procedures. Familiar with biomedical device development involving CNC milling, CO2-based laser cutting, and 3D printing. Computer skills including, but not limited to Labview programming, 3D graphic design software (e.g. Fusion 360, SolidWorks) and CNC CAM software.
