About the Department | The Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering offers undergraduate degrees in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, and Environmental Engineering. Graduate programs are offered with specialties in Computing and Systems, Construction Engineering, Water Resources, Coastal and Environmental Engineering, Structural Engineering and Mechanics, Transportation Systems and Materials, Geotechnical / Geoenvironmental Engineering, and Mechanics and Materials. With over 53 faculty, more than 770 undergraduate students and over 300 graduate students, NC State University’s Department of Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering (CCEE) is one of the largest departments in the country and more importantly, one of the best. In 2022, our Environmental Engineering and Civil Engineering degrees were ranked at 21st and 26th in the country, respectively. At the graduate level we offer the traditional Master’s and Ph.D. degrees with the opportunity to specialize in a wide range of topics in civil, construction, and environmental engineering. We are also a leader in distance education. Students can earn a Master of Civil or Environmental Engineering degree without ever setting foot on campus. CCEE’s online Master of Civil Engineering program was ranked No. 4 in the country on US News & World Report’s 2022 Best Online Programs list. Our research programs and facilities are world class. Essential Job Duties | The Coastal Hazards (CHAZ) Research Specialist will assist Dr. Anarde in managing two coastal monitoring programs in North Carolina: a shoreline monitoring program along the NC Outer Banks (using remote sensing techniques) and monitoring of chronic coastal floods (using in situ sensors and camera imagery). The position will involve project management – including writing reports, creating presentations and figures, data quality control, purchasing, organizing sensor deployments and manufacturing – as well as initial analysis and processing of geospatial and water level data. The Research Specialist will work closely with undergraduate and graduate students in Civil and Environmental Engineering, as well as with colleagues and students in other disciplines as part of the Sunny Day Flooding Project. The position has guaranteed funding for two years with subsequent extension opportunities. The candidate will join a vibrant research group with active field and lab research interests in coastal evolution and climate change impacts. |

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience | Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment + 3 years of directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. |
