Job Description

The Research Specialist III, under general direction, performs research work involving performance of assignments which may involve planning and directing certain phases of research projects.

The Research Specialist for Analytical Assays will be responsible for developing and validating assays routinely used in the biopharmaceutical industry in a cGMP environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Leads the development of analytical assays to characterize upstream and downstream process samples.
  • Supports course development and training deliveries by developing and teaching modules on analytical assays.
  • Advises on equipment procurement to support QC activities.
  • Leads the collection of samples and measurement data from experiments. Implements and maintains data collection and summarization of field trials.
  • Delivers lectures and hands-on technical training program that meets the mission of the NCTM.
  • Compiles, analyzes, interprets, and reviews data.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree

Required Experience:

  • Eight years of related experience.

Preferred Education:

  • Master’s Degree or above preferred.

Preferred Experience:

  • Additional experience with LC-MS and/or MALS
  • Experience in the biopharmaceutical industry with experience in analytical assay validation and/or quality control or a Ph.D. with experience with at least one the following methodologies:
    • Reverse Transcription PCR
    • qPCR
    • ddPCR
    • Dynamic Light Scattering (preferred)
    • Reverse Phase HPLC or UPLC (preferred)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
