The Research Specialist III, under general direction, is responsible for managing all aspects of development, application, and evaluation of a healthcare technology program. Responsibilities: independently execute the project mission; exhibit higher-level critical thinking; identify potential funding resources; produce grant reports; manage an interprofessional team; make outreach to potential clients; contract negotiation; develop nursing protocols using knowledge of nursing roles and scope of practice; develop and execute a business model; preparation and tracking of Institutional Review Board applications, develop community partnerships; identify project needs and potential collaborators to address needs; have knowledge of TAMU and healthcare privacy and security requirements. May attend local, national, and international meetings.

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree.

Required Experience:

  • 8 years of related experience.

Required Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others
  • Ability to communicate professionally with multiple internal and external parties
  • Demonstrate high-level critical thinking; independently manage a complex project in alignment with project directors’ vision and project mission
  • Knowledge of nursing practice and scope of practice; project management and community outreach; contract negotiation; compliance issues; ability to develop a business model.

Preferred Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing.

Preferred Experience:

  • Previous experience with healthcare business start-ups.

Preferred Licenses and Certifications:

  • Unencumbered Texas RN license.

Preferred Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Prior experience with developing a business model and business start-up.

Job Responsibilities

Project Management

  • Meet regularly with project directors to align vision and mission before executing management plans.
  • Communicate with internal and external stakeholders to keep project moving forward and on schedule.
  • Work with contracting units to review and negotiate contracts with external parties.
  • Generate meeting agendas and minutes.
  • Draft reports
  • Ensure project compliance with related TAMU policies and procedures and state and federal laws.

Develop Business Model for Start-Up

  • Collaborate with Mays Business School faculty and project directors to develop appropriate business model for the project.
  • Execute business model elements.
  • Revise business model as necessary to meet project goals.
  • Develop business leadership skills through reading and guidance from Mays Business School faculty and discussion with project directors.

Protocol Development

  • Develop program protocols.
  • Review protocols with nurse project director and other stakeholders, as appropriate, for final approval.
  • Collaborate with partners to integrate protocols into existing workflows.
  • Revise protocols as necessary.

Other Duties

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
