Job Description

The Research Specialist I, under general supervision performs skilled, technical work and research involving assay development and quality control. Work is performed under general supervision with evaluation based on the successful completion of tasks assigned.

The Research Specialist for Analytical Assays will be responsible for developing and validating assays routinely used in the biopharmaceutical industry in a cGMP environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Develops analytical assays to characterize upstream and downstream process samples.
  • Supports course development and training deliveries by developing and teaching modules on analytical assays.
  • Advises on equipment procurement to support QC activities.
  • Collects samples and measurement data from experiments. Implements and maintains data collection and summarization of field trials.
  • Delivers lectures and hands-on technical training program that meets the mission of the NCTM.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree

Required Experience:

  • Four years of related experience.

Preferred Education:

  • Master’s Degree or above preferred.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in the following methodologies: Reverse Transcription PCR, qPCR, ddPCR, Dynamic Light Scattering, Reverse Phase HPLC, Gel electrophoresis, LC-MS, and MALS
  • Experience in the of biopharmaceutical industry experience in analytical assay validation and/or quality control.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
