Position Summary
The primary purpose of this position is to provide histopathological services, technical expertise, consultation and planning, as well as training for CGIBD members. The position serves Center members conducting digestive diseases research and other researchers who need histopathological services.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Candidates must have thorough knowledge of histology and histopathology principles and practices and experience in a research environment. In addition to coursework in biology, chemistry, algebra, physics, histology, immunology, and molecular Biology, candidates must have the ability to conduct experiments with immunoassay, tissue sectioning, histology, molecular biology and digital imaging. Candidates must have considerable knowledge laboratory techniques, equipment and terminology use in the biomedical sciences. Candidates must have the ability to plan, prioritize and organize multiple tasks as well as work independently to perform the requirements of the position. Candidates must have the ability to interact well with others. Excellent written and verbal communication, organization, and analytical skills are required. Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, and database software applications.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Prefer a candidate with experience: 1) conducting histopathology processes on different types of tissues, 2) working with iLabs or similar billing systems, 3) digital image analysis and 4) operating automated histology equipment.
