Job Summary

The Research Solutions Engineer will be an integral part of our systems engineering team. This position will provide direct technical support for users of research computing systems under the guidance of senior staff. Support is provided by helping users interact with operating systems, operational policies and procedures, new technologies. You will work collaboratively with other Research Computing staff and campus researchers to implement new technologies. The work you do will be unique and challenging working with researchers to shorten time to discovery.  

 

 


What We're Looking For:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in a STEM field
  • Six (6) months of experience with Linux operating systems required. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be accepted

 

Preferred: 

  • Formal or informal experience in providing technical support to others
  • Experience using high-performance computing resources

 

Skills Needed:

  • Ability to work as part of a high-performing team in a collaborative environment
  • Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize tasks and complete projects with minimal supervision
  • Familiarity with version control and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) concepts and tools 
  • Familiarity with basic computer and network security concepts (authentication, access control, firewalls) within a Linux environment
