Description of Work Unit
The One Water Solutions Institute (OWSI) housed under the CSU Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, provides world-class research and innovative technologies to promote collaboration between CSU and outside partners such as local governments, private sector/industry members and non-profit organizations. The Object Modeling Systems Lab (OMLab) serves as the software and technology development arm of OWSI and was established to promote the use of Object Modeling Systems (OMS) to collaboratively develop, provision, and deploy scientific models for analysis of natural resource concerns, assisting land management decision-making. OMSLab staff responsibilities are focused on following elements of expertise:
· Natural resource data management
· Natural resource business expertise for requirements analysis and design specifications
· Model-as-a-Service (Maas) development
· Data Center (Cloud) hosting support with container-based deployments for natural resource applications

Position Summary
The Object Modeling System Laboratory (OMSLab) at Colorado State University (CSU) is seeking two experienced developers as research software engineers to develop and maintain web applications to support research projects with the One Water Solutions Institute (OWSI). These web applications contain geospatial databases, statistical analysis, interactive graph visualization, integration of environmental models, web-services, and report generation capabilities. The development of the tools builds on two CSU technologies: Cloud Services Integration Platform (CSIP) and the Catena React Web Platform. Candidates must have strong programming experience with an interest in product design and have coded applications in JavaScript, React/Redux, Python and used tools to manage, build, deploy and test source code. These individuals will work under close supervision of OWSI/OMSLab staff.
Required Job Qualifications
o Bachelor’s degree in physical sciences, computer science or closely related field
o Experience building web applications with JavaScript, React/Redux Python
o Experience working with Restful Web-services
o Ability to work as part of a team or independently as needed
Preferred Job Qualifications
o Experience designing and developing web-based user interfaces with Node or similar, GraphQL, Material-UI and respective design and development tools and interactive libraries.
o Experience using a development tool chain, version control, testing, and tracking systems in a collaborative software development setting.
o Experience with relational databases, Object relational mapping, No-SQL databases
o Experience in using geo-spatial data: representation, storage, handling, processing, and web-based visualization and respective tools and libraries
o Experience building accessible websites that meet Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)
