Job Title: Research Services Specialist – Healthcare Policy and Research

Job Summary:

The mission of the Division of Health Care Policy and Research (HCPR) is to design and conduct health services research, policy analyses and evaluations of innovations, programs, and policies that increase the value of healthcare services from multiple perspectives across the lifespan and generations. Faculty members investigate how implementation (as well as de-implementation when appropriate), dissemination and sustainability of innovations in healthcare services, organizational structure, payment models, and quality improvement and measurement approaches influence value throughout our healthcare system. This person will work across projects to assist in coordinating research operations within the research mission area. This person coordinates day-to-day operations and successful execution of research project tasks and deliverables for various projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the day-to-day operations of research projects and programs.
  • Perform data collection and coordination, data entry, coding, cleaning, and data management, which may include the use of REDCap or Qualtrics.
  • Support and analyze data using Excel or similar data analysis software.
  • Utilize data visualization and graphic design programs to display results, create policy or other materials for dissemination of research project findings.
  • Conduct literature reviews and environmental scans using on-line resources and library services.
  • Coordinate and organize project- or program-related meetings, including scheduling and attending meetings, tracking, and reporting activities, and coordinating follow-up.
  • Regularly meet with project teams to discuss and communicate progress to all members. Includes developing and maintaining databases to track and analyze and report study information.
  • Prepare, submit, and track human subject research (COMIRB) applications under guidance of the PI.
  • Assist with the design, development and coordination of study instruments/tools, protocols, consent forms, and other documents related to research and evaluation projects.
  • Collaborate with project or program teams to write, edit, and submit manuscripts and other journal submission materials. Collaborate with project teams to develop and prepare abstracts for professional presentations, such as workshops, oral presentations, and posters.
  • Facilitate document management for projects, including maintaining practice agreements, data use agreements, and business associate agreements, and any project related reporting requirements in compliance with any regulatory requirements.

Work Location:

Hybrid – this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule of 2 days per week on campus and as needed for in-person meetings.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in any field.
    • A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.
  • Two (2) years of professional health services research or related experience.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in behavioral/social science or health related field.
  • Master’s degree in a related field.
  • Three (3 years of professional health services research or related experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Effectively synthesize and summarize research literature regarding health and healthcare.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills; ability to independently apply judgement and take action.
  • Ability to interpret and master complex research protocol information.
  • Ability to envision innovative ways of doing things and able to challenge the status quo while maintaining excellent working relationships with team members.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective and professional working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
  • Demonstrated commitment to advance diversity and inclusion.
  • Self-directed and able to independently solve problems and assist others with making decisions.
  • Experience with Excel and/or other analytic software.
  • Proficient with Office 365 applications, including Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The salary range (or hiring range ) for these two positions has been established as $55,393 - $70,460.

The above hiring range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

These positions are not eligible for overtime compensation.
