The Lenz Lab is directed by Dr. Kathryn Lenz. The Research Senior Technician will conduct and coordinate behavioral neuroscience research in the Lenz laboratory, including design, analysis and presentation of neuroscience research experiments, specifically ongoing research in studying the effects of early life traumatic brain injury and chronic stress on brain development, immune cell activity and behavior; manage rat and mouse colonies; perform rodent intracranial surgeries and tissue collections; perform behavioral testing on rats and mice; independently perform a variety of behavioral, biochemical and molecular assays, including: quantitative polymerase chain reaction (PCR), RNAseq sample preparation and basic data analysis using established protocols, Enzyme-linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISAs), immunohistochemistry on rat/mouse tissues; histological preparation of brain tissue and microscopic data analysis; prepare solutions and lab reagents; maintain and clean equipment and facility and orders research supplies; maintain all lab inventory records and prepare lab for routine inspections; assist in supervision and training of undergraduate research assistants; analyze acquired data and prepare summary data graphs and visualizations.

This position is for an initial appointment term of one (1) year and may be renewable for up to a total of three (3) years, depending on both performance and availability of funding.

Minimum Education Required

Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Neuroscience, Biology or similar

Required Minimum Qualifications

A minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience with laboratory bench and/or animal research. Research experience working with laboratory rodents is required.

Desired Qualifications

Some experience with small animal surgeries is preferred but not required.


Additional Information:

The pay range for this job profile is $17.10 - $22.61. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, the unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications.
