Hiring Salary/Salary Range: $20.26 - $25.00 / Up to 40 hours per week

The major goals of Dr. Ruisheng Liu’s laboratory are to understand the renal mechanisms for hypertension and kidney injury. The research programs of the Liu lab are funded by the National Institutes of Health. We are looking for highly motivated, enthusiastic, hardworking, detail-oriented, and collaborative applicant who can efficiently work in a fast-paced environment. High level of independence, the ability to think critically and write academically are expected.

Position Summary:

Incumbent in this position will report to Dr. Ruisheng Liu. The Research Scientist will be responsible for conducting research and/or participating in research for renal mechanisms for hypertension and kidney injury. Work requires practical and basic theoretical knowledge to perform these techniques and to modify them as needed, in consultation with the principal investigator or designee. Competency in standard methods of analysis of the results is expected. Provides data or figures of publication quality for manuscripts or grants.

DUTIES:

• Plans and conducts laboratory research protocols in cell and molecular biology and other related biological science disciplines under the leadership of the PI/supervisor.
• Maintains logs and records of experiments and observations, findings and results for use in presentations and publications.
• Assists other researchers in the laboratory with conducting experiments.
• Contributes to research supply purchasing, financial management and general lab maintenance.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS (Education & Experience):

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a natural, physical, or medical science. 

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in renal physiology and rodent surgery is desirable.
