Position Summary

The Hingtgen Lab is looking to recruit a highly motivated Research Associate to join the Translational Cellular Therapeutics and Imaging Lab. Our work focuses on improving the therapeutic management of highly malignant brain tumors by developing novel mechanism-based therapies delivered via engineered stem cells and other delivery platforms. Central to this research is the integration of non-invasive bioimaging to provide real-time single-cell resolution and quantitative whole-animal information that is combined with extensive molecular mechanistic analysis to determine therapeutic potential. Educational Requirements

M.A, M.D. or Ph.D. degree in Chemistry, Biology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or Biomedical Engineering.

Qualifications and Experience

- Possess five or more years of relevant work experience.
- Extensive work creating and utilizing mouse models of cancer.
- Experience with in-vivo imaging and optical tracking of tumors.
- Experience with the creation of surgical resection models of cancer; delivery of scaffold or stem cell composites for treatment of post-surgical cancer.
- Possess ability for creative thinking; effective oral and written communication skills, and good team spirit.
- Ability to provide extensive guidance for graduate students: This includes formal one-on-one weekly meetings with each graduate student; reviews experimental design and provides feedback, instruction, and advice to troubleshoot issues.
- Ability to oversee and manage approval of all animal protocols animal inspections, records; supervises the housing, care, and follow-up on all surgeries maintenance of equipment in the surgical suites.
- Assists the PI placing orders, managing the lab’s ordering website, stocking supplies once they arrive; assists with submitting patent applications through the UNC Office of Technology Transfer.
