Research Scientist to conceptualize, design, implement and manage research projects in neurobiology of diseases in the Department of Biological Chemistry and Pharmacology that results in significant contributions to the scientific community in the form of high-impact publications each year and grant applications after the first year; develops hypotheses and experimental approaches to test hypothesis;  identifies and defines problems and solutions to which can be approached through a scientific research process; plans, designs and conducts experiments of considerable scope and complexity; extracts, compiles, analyzes and evaluates data to establish relevance to the problems being evaluated; develops, adopts and implements new laboratory methods, devices or techniques for studies, including experimental techniques, hardware, software, and statistical methods; writes manuscripts, articles, abstracts and research reports for publication in peer-reviewed journals; attends and presents research findings at national and international scientific conferences to disseminate scientific knowledge to the research community; develops and conducts educational workshops, lectures and seminars; collaborates with other researchers in determining research priorities and planning programs of research;  develops, writes and submits grant proposals of original research as principal investigator to extramural funding agencies to obtain significant salary and research support from outside funding agencies.   

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Doctoral degree in neuroscience or other relevant field required; extensive experience (more than 5 years research experience after getting his PhD) and demonstrated ability to be a competent and productive researcher as evidenced by authored total 20 publications of considerable interest and value to the field and/or other contributions of material significance in the field.  Requires successful completion of a background check. Selected candidate may be requested to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.
