The College of Pharmacy is looking for a Research Scientist to serve as a member of the Pharmaceutical Sciences team. Required Education:

  • Appropriate PhD or MD

Required Experience:

  • 6 years' relevant professional experience

Required Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Preferred Experience:

  • 10 years relevant professional experience
  • Experience working with diverse individuals and communities
  • Experience mentoring junior graduate students and undergraduate students
  • Experience managing purchasing, safety, waste disposal, and compliance of a biomedical research lab
  • Experience in the study of various animal models including sepsis, acute lung injury, and thrombosis

Preferred Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Extensive knowledge about various animal models
  • Ability to work independently, excellent research skills, attention to details, and ability to analyze findings.
  • Strong written & verbal communication skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines; attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent presentation and teaching skills
  • Experience working with diverse individuals and communities


Job Responsibilities

  • Collect, compiles, and analyze research data.
  • Uses statistical methods and relational databases to analyze data
  • provides written reports (including abstracts & manuscripts for publications) of research findings and literature search, as/when requested. 
  • Assists in formulating research objectives, programs, and priorities
  • Assists in grant writing as needed
  • Assist in managing the breeding and genotyping of animals’ colonies
  • Order and prepare buffers and research reagents as needed and keeps a log
  • May train users on the preparation and data management of research equipment
  • Assists with planning, developing, coordinating, and administering research projects
  • Manage and overseas research equipment
  • Comply with all state and university policies
  • Demonstrates intermediate to expert skills with Microsoft office software and is able to learn and use institutional software systems.
  • Supervisory responsibilities: may carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organization’s objectives, policies, and applicable laws.
  • Ordering of supplies
