Description of Work Unit
The Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology at CSU offers a high quality research and learning environment. Faculty research accomplishments have been recognized nationally and internationally in the areas of biochemistry and molecular, cellular, and structural biology.
Position Summary
The Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology seeks applications throughout the academic year from Ph.D.-level scientists who are interested in research positions at the Research Scientist/Scholar level. The open positions may be temporary or special assignments.
Required Job Qualifications
Research Scientist applicants must hold a Ph.D. degree in an appropriate discipline. 
 
There are four levels of appointment: 
 
Level I is for individuals generally within three years of receiving their Ph.D. and with limited scientific research experience. 
 
Level II is analogous to the Assistant Professor title for regular faculty. It generally includes people with more than 3 years of relevant professional experience beyond the Ph.D. and with significant professional accomplishments*. 
 
Level III and Senior Research Scientist/Scholar are for individuals with a significant number of years of experience beyond the Ph.D. and extremely significant and extraordinary accomplishments*. 
 
*Ranking is done on an individual basis using factors such as publication record, past research funding, professional honors and awards, decisive discoveries and management experience.
