Job Summary

Saint Louis University School of Medicine is looking for a motivated researcher to carry out projects that will provide a greater understanding of the mechanism of action of enzymes that function in DNA repair and recombination. The goal of our research is to dissect the mechanisms that enzymes use to protect the integrity of the genome. For this NIH-funded position, the postdoctoral fellow or research scientist will be entrusted with responsibilities associated with new TIRF, EI-FLEX, and C-Trap microscopes capable of performing multi-color single-molecule microscopy. The associated projects range from capturing the dynamics of DNA repair and recombination proteins on DNA and RNA to capturing ATP-dependent assembly of large protein assemblies during nitrogen fixation and chlorophyll synthesis. The ideal candidate for the position will be a senior scientist with a background in single-molecule biophysics, molecular biology and biochemistry of protein-nucleic acid and protein-protein interactions. The researcher will be responsible for maintaining the TIRF and C-Trap microscopes, designing experiments, interpreting results, writing manuscripts and training graduate students in TIRF microscopy.
