Research Scientist-Pharmacology (YT)

The Department of Pharmacology and Neuroscience is seeking a highly motivated Research Scientist to study the molecular mechanism and develop new treatments for lung diseases including asthma and pulmonary fibrosis. Applicants must have a PhD in Biology or a relevant field. Preference will be given to applicants with research experience in any of the following areas: asthma, pulmonary fibrosis, cell biology, molecular biology, and animal handling. The Research Scientist will provide essential counsel in experimental design and statistical analysis while working collaboratively with other researchers, technicians, trainees and the Principal Investigator. The Research Scientist will promote his/her supervisor's research program by conducting research studies, analyzing research results, preparing and writing research papers, presentations, grant proposals, etc.

This position is 100% grant funded.

Position will work Monday-Friday; 9:00 am - 5:30 pm; depending upon research needs position may require evening, weekend, and holiday work.  
 


Qualifications:
Doctoral degree or equivalent in related field of study.
Seven (7) years of research experience in related field and/or 3 years
of experience as a postdoctoral researcher.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Prior experience in asthma and pulmonary fibrosis is preferred;
Strong ability to interpret data and to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues;
Strong work ethic;
Strong written and verbal communication skills;
Ability to work independently;
Skill in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems; 
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite to include Word, Excel; PowerPoint and Outlook;
Proficiency in GraphPad Prism software
Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays depending upon research needs.
