Job Overview

The Research Scientist - in a part-time role - in Jorabchi group within the Chemistry Department conducts research funded by external research grants and to generate research results for securing new external funding. They are focused on conducting experiments in the laboratory, analyzing research data, and writing scientific reports.

Work Interactions

Reporting to the Professor Kaveh Jorabchi, the Research Scientist has extensive interactions with with the PhD and undergraduate students in Jorabchi research group.

They lead independent and collaborative research projects with Jorabchi group members and catalyze interactions between the Jorabchi group and other research groups on campus, forming new collaborations and opening new opportunities to attract external research funds. In doing so, they fortify the mission of the university in conducting cutting edge original scientific research, improving interdisciplinary research on campus, and enhancing the prospects of attracting external funding.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree - preference for a Master’s degree or PhD
  • Demonstrated accomplishments and experience in mass spectrometric instrumentation and method development, data analysis, and computer programming

Preferred Qualification

Experience in quantum mechanical calculations and chemical synthesis
