Professor Litster’s current research focus is micro- and nano-scale transport phenomena in energy conversion technologies where electrochemistry and electrokinetics play a dominant role, including fuel cells, batteries, and ultra-capacitors. His research interests also include multiphase flow in porous media and micro-channels, non-linear dynamics, catalytic gasification, and microfluidic pumping.

Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting research projects on tasks including electrode materials and fabrication, fuel cell and electrolyzer testing, advanced 3D imaging, and multi-scale modeling. Specific areas of focus depend on background experience.

  • Supporting the laboratory director on project management tasks and reporting. This includes monitoring project tasks, milestones, and deliverables, as well as preparation of project reports and presentations.

  • Training students on laboratory equipment and overseeing equipment maintenance, either by direct maintenance or through third-party services.

  • 1-3 years of related work experience

  • Laboratory experience in electrochemistry or electrochemical technologies with a focus on fabrication or experimental diagnostics.

  • Hands on experience in electrochemical characterization of devices required.

  • Experimental research experience in batteries, fuel cells, ultra/supercapacitors, electrolyzers, and similar devices are acceptable.

Requirements:

  • Successful background check

  • Ability to work in the experimental laboratory environment

  • Ability to physically move/relocate benchtop laboratory equipment and gas cylinders
