Research Scientist II
TNPRC - Pathology
Location:  Covington, LA
Summary

The Research Scientist's primary responsibility is to conduct research on HIV-associated atherosclerosis projects and to utilize the universal cell ablation model for the study of cellular functionality in the pathogenesis of human diseases, such as multiple sclerosis; he/she will keep a lab journal, present research results to the research group and generate data to support the research objectives of the lab. The Research Scientist is also responsible for supervising and training other research laboratory staff, developing and implementing new techniques and communicating study results effectively.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Ability to interact with individuals of diverse backgrounds at all levels internal and external to the organization         

  • Ability to work collaboratively as a positive, contributing member of a team

  • Ability to keyboard and utilize various standardized word processing, spreadsheet preparation, and presentation software

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously

  • Ability to prioritize work, performing assignments with minimal supervision

Required Education and/or Experience

  • Doctorate degree in a Biological Science

  • Five years of research experience in a relevant field or area of study

Preferred Qualifications

  • Work experience in an academic environment

  • More than 5 years' professional research work experience

This position is classified as "exempt, salaried" and is assigned to pay grade null.
