Job Description:

Summary
Malaria remains one of the world’s deadliest infectious diseases.  The Martin lab at Iowa State University utilizes a combination of structural and molecular biology techniques to enable development of new tools to combat this disease, including next-generation vaccine development, monoclonal antibodies, and antimalarial.

There are two main projects in the lab:

1. Mapping the interaction of potent, neutralizing antibodies with key malaria parasite proteins using electron microscopy and X-ray crystallography, and the rational development of improved malaria vaccines based on these structural data.

2. Understanding the molecular basis of antimalarial resistance in malaria parasites, and how this interfaces with critical biological processes of the parasite.

We are seeking a talented and motivated postdoctoral research associate to work on one or both of these projects.  The successful candidate will be involved in developing and performing experiments and assays, analyzing data, writing manuscripts, and presenting the results at national and international conferences.
