Within UAA, the Community College Research Initiatives (CCRI) team conducts research and development to generate actionable knowledge to advance equity in the field of higher education. Our work focuses on studying the experiences of marginalized student groups that use community colleges as their entry point to higher education, and the role that institutions play in equitable student educational and employment outcomes. Our goal is to leverage this research to effect change in postsecondary education at all levels.

CCRI has an outstanding opportunity for a Research Scientist to join their team at the University of Washington. The position may be up to 100% remote or hybrid at a minimum FTE of 80% and the possibility of increasing to 100% and an extended time frame, depending on funding.

The Research Scientist will support multiple CCRI projects, including the STEM Transfer Partnerships project funded by the Ascendium Education Group focused on increasing low-income STEM students transfer and completion of baccalaureate degrees via transfer partnerships, multiple evaluation projects, and coaching for transformational change work. They will also be pivotal in applying for and leading future research projects.

The Research Scientist will be responsible for collecting, coding, and analyzing qualitative data, developing evaluation tools, managing data, perform evaluation of survey data; draft, develop and assist with writing scientific manuscripts and reports; prepare and present at scientific and stakeholder meetings; prepare and manage Institutional Review Board (IRB) requirements; assist with the development, design, and facilitation of a community of practice convenings; assist in grant application and paperwork process.
