The Department of Biochemistry has an outstanding opportunity for a Research Scientist/ Engineer 1.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

This individual will perform research on yeast cell division usiing biochemical technigues such as protein expression and purification, western blot analysis, and immunoprecipitation, or genetic analyses. 90%   

Other related administrative duties will be assigned as they occur. 10%

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's Degree in Biochemistry/Biology/chemistry with undergraduate lab experience in Biochemistry + 3 months or more of years in related field.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

General biochemical concepts on the structure and function of macromolecules, cell organization and metabolic pathways, gene expression and the steps of the cell cycle. The ability to read and critique scientific literature. Basic biochemical bench skills, such as DNA cloning, protein gel electrophoresis, western blots, protein expression, etc.  

DESIRED:

Experience with protein purification.
