Job Summary

Research Scientist working with the Lester, Gao, and Dougherty Laboratories at Caltech. The successful candidate will use their skills with molecular biology, fluorescence analysis, optical imaging, and data analysis to conduct research on the neuropharmacology of addiction.

Essential Job Duties

  • Generate and apply fluorescent reporters for nicotine, smoking cessation drugs, and selective serotonin-selective reuptake inhibitors.
  • Provide scientific information for research reports, journals and/or articles.
  • Present research at seminars and outside meetings.
  • Initiate, write and/or submit proposals with principal investigators.
  • Collaborate with other research groups.
  • Conduct literature research.
  • Participate in lab discussions.

Basic Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in chemistry or biochemistry.
  • Skills should include molecular biology, fluorescence analysis, optical imaging, data analysis, and paper writing.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Preferred, PhD in chemistry or biochemistry.
  •  At least 4 years of postdoctoral experience, generating and apply fluorescent reporters for nicotine, smoking cessation drugs, and selective serotonin-selective re-uptake inhibitors.
