Job Summary

Research scientist position for a PhD scientist to perform research on cell signaling and gene expression using the Drosophila model system.

Essential Job Duties

Molecular, genetic, cell biological, and biochemical approaches will be used to understand ligand-receptor interactions and their functions in vivo. Multiple techniques will be used including genome engineering, Drosophila transgenesis, cloning and in situ hybridization. In addition, the position involves participation in weekly lab group meetings where research data are presented in addition to discussion of scientific literature. The successful applicant is expected to be capable of performing research collaboratively and in helping to secure research funding. In addition, the job involves general lab management including organization/upkeep of lab reagents and equipment. 

Basic Qualifications

  • PhD in biological sciences with 5-8 years of relevant experience; including preparation of research manuscripts and grant proposals. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in molecular biology approaches (cloning, genome engineering) as well as use of the Drosophila model system (genetics, transgenesis, in situ hybridization).
  • Experience with cell culture and/or bioinformatics is a plus.
