The Department of Medicine: Hematology has an outstanding opportunity for Research Scientist 3 to join their team.

The Division of Hematology has an outstanding opportunity for a full-time Research Scientist 3 in the Johnsen lab, a position with significant responsibilities for Bioinformatics and Software Development and NGS and Molecular Biology expertise. Our laboratory investigates the fundamental mechanisms responsible for variation bleeding, clotting, blood cells, and vascular integrity. Our program takes multiple technical approaches towards these goals, including genomics, transcriptomics, epigenetics, and deep mutational scanning.  The research scientist will lead our bioinformatics program and work in an inclusive and highly collaborative environment with senior laboratory personnel and trainees to carry out impactful basic and translational research projects. As the lead bioinformatician, this position will be responsible for Johnsen laboratory NGS analysis and our custom NGS pipeline, working independently under broad supervision of senior laboratory personnel and the PI.  The individual will design, develop, and maintain software, add and automate in the existing pipeline, integrate existing programs, and identify, import, and adapt external analytical tools in a highly collaborative environment. The individual will be capable of performing routine and advanced molecular biology and genetics assays, including NGS. The individual will have excellent procedural skills, communication, and organizational skills.  The individual will work collaboratively including with outside groups and have opportunities for development.
