The University of Houston Law Center (UHLC) invites applicants for a non-tenure track Research Scholar position.
The position’s responsibilities include: conducting, presenting and/or publishing policy papers or research on topics related to the interests or stakeholders of UH Energy, the UH Center for Carbon Management, and UHLC’s Environment, Energy & Natural Resources (EENR) Center; such topics to be determined by the EENR director(s); establish and maintain interdisciplinary networking relationships related to such policy/research or putting such policy or research into action with other UH units and organizations external to UH or EENR, including overseeing any existing EENR grants and/or obtaining new grants or other funding, and including liaison relationships for research services with state governments, such topics/organizations to be determined by the EENR director(s); implementing external communications for research content and interactions with external stakeholders, including items such as social media or EENR web page research content, for topics as determined by the EENR director(s); hiring and supervising non benefits, part time J.D. students to assist with all of the responsibilities listed here; perform other research and institution support oriented activities as determined by the EENR director(s); and show a clear commitment to enhancing the diversity of the faculty, graduate, and undergraduate student population by working closely with a collegial and diverse group of faculty committed to generating cutting-edge research in a stimulating environment where diversity of scholarship and ideas is valued.
The successful candidate appointed to the position must, at a minimum, hold a J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited law school. Candidates with prior experience or special interest in energy, environment, climate and property law are particularly encouraged to apply.
This is a one year, non-tenure track appointment and will have no presumption of renewal. The salary for this position is commensurate with experience.
As a non-tenure-track (NTT) position, the appointee will accrue no time toward tenure at the University of Houston. The Research Scholar title is a non‑promotion‑eligible NTT position, so the position does not accrue time toward promotion or a renewable employment agreement in a promotion‑eligible NTT position. Qualifications

J.D. degree or equivalent; excellent legal analysis, writing, and research skill
