ROLE of the POSITION

The Research Protections Program Coordinator performs triage/submission intake of research protocols and provides support to the IRB during preliminary and continuing review of research, and sends continuing review notices and closes protocols prior to expiration. He/she/they will assist board administrators with preparing reports, agendas, appointment letters, meetings and materials for IRB board meetings, and manages IRB board list, including CITI training requirements and IRB board member surveys.

The Research Protections Program Coordinator manages PI Eligibility and exceptions, including volunteer individual investigator packets, and retention of records. He/she/they oversees the participant stipend program (HS Comp), including training, reconciling, and management of the Advarra Payment System, and reviews online www.clinicaltrials.gov submissions for consistency.

He/she/they will assist with IRB education and outreach, assist the HRPP manager in the development of materials to maintain AAHRPP reaccreditation, and provide extensive administrative support to the Research Protections Director, including but not limited to maintaining various email inboxes and phone lines. 

Serves as Cayuse administrator, including but not limited to account setup for new users, technical support for issues/questions by troubleshooting, study portfolio maintenance, and close/withdraw inactive protocols.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). Credentials must be obtained prior to the start date.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience working as an IRB administrator

Certified IRB Professional (CIP)

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Basic knowledge of federal and international compliance regulations and guidelines which govern human subject research including; Federal Policy 45 CFR 46, 21 CFR 50, 21 CFR 56, Belmont Report, Declaration of Helsinki, Nuremberg Code. 

Basic knowledge of Food and Drug Administration regulations.

Basic knowledge of research terminology and methodology pertaining to research with human subjects. Basic knowledge of human subject protocol review and revision procedures. 

Must be able to interpret and explain human research compliance laws and university policy to faculty, staff, and student researchers.

Must be able to perform preliminary administrative pre-review of research protocols and identify problems and issues.

Must possess working knowledge to coordinate and organize technical meetings. Responsible for completion of minutes for all IRB meetings.

Must have the initiative in collecting technical information from a wide variety of sources. 

Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality of information and records with tact and discretion.

Be able to assist with the development of materials for maintaining AAHRPP accreditation. 

Must have exceptional computer skills to maintain intricate protocol database as well as database manipulation and information capture and use other relevant computer software applications.

Must have excellent oral and written communication and organizational skills. 

Must have the ability to prioritize tasks and work under pressure with multiple deadlines.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Be able to effectively advise faculty and student researchers on the compilation of research protocol and informed consent documentation.

Knowledge of clinical trials billing and budget development.

SALARY

This is a full-time, 12-month, Administrative Faculty position at a Grade B.  Salary is competitive with those at similarly situated institutions. Minimum starting salary is $60,000.
