ROLE of the POSITION

This position is responsible for managerial leadership at the school level to ensure programmatic and fiscal accountability and serves as    point of contact for liaison between PIs within School of Nursing and School of Integrated Health Sciences and the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) of UNLV.

This position will have the primary function of providing pre-award support for internal and external grants and administrative assistance with other research and scholarship activities as needed. The Research Projects Manager is part of the management team of the Office of Research and Scholarship (ORS) under the direction of the Associate Dean for Research for the School of Nursing.

Duties include but not limited to:

Provide Office of Research and Scholarship services for the School of Nursing and the School of Integrated Health Sciences:

  • Work with OSP to interpret sponsor requirements and ensure compliance with established policies.
  • Assist with the preparation and submission of grant applications.
  • Prepare and complete all required internal and external forms.
  • Coordinate and schedule mock reviews.
  • Review grant notices and distribute specific calls to appropriate faculty.
  • Track and maintain records of SON faculty scholarship.
  • Coordinate inter-disciplinary activities.
  • Provide technical support with manuscript review processes.
  • Provide technical assistance for IRB submissions for faculty, staff, and students.
  • Assist with research and other reports/manuscripts.
  • Assist with facilitating grant clubs and writing groups.
  • Supervise Graduate Assistant(s) and Student Worker(s) positions as necessary.

Ideal candidate will have knowledge of the functional areas of sponsored program administration (pre-award through post-award) and a good general knowledge of the nature of research in all academic disciplines, Extensive understanding of the nature and requirements of sponsored project contracts, grants, cooperative agreements, and requests for proposals or quotes, Demonstrated ability to work with and make decisions concerning funding and contractual matters, Demonstrated ability to interpret policies and act independently in a highly complex regulatory/legal/fiscal environment, Demonstrated supervisory skills are required as well as expertise in conflict resolution, Possess demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills, Ability to work with a diverse team and develop and maintain the core of the team, Possess extensive hands-on experience working with various platforms (e.g., NIH, NSF, DoD, PCORI, RWJ, etc.), Possess extensive knowledge of major funding sources and their policies and procedures, Must understand the FDP standard research terms and conditions, Possess advanced knowledge of federal procurement regulations, including the CFR & FAR, and the Uniform Guidance and audit regulations (A-133) that pertain to institutions of higher education.

QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires a Master's Degree from a regionally accredited college or university and 3 years of related professional experience. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. Credentials must be obtained prior to the start of employment.

SALARY RANGE

Salary competitive with those at similarly situated institutions. Position is contingent upon funding.
