Summary of Duties:

This position will oversee the administration of a a NIMH-funded mixed methods spatial project, which includes quantitative data collection from early intervention programs for psychosis throughout the U.S. and qualitative data collection from various stakeholders such as policy makers, providers, and families throughout the U.S., preparation of human subjects’ applications, data management and tracking, and overall project management across multiple locations. The position will also work on a state-funded evaluation of early intervention programs in Washington State which focuses primarily on quality improvement and working with American Indian/Alaska Native communities in Washington State. This position will be based in Spokane, WA.
The Social Scientific Assistant will be responsible for monitoring assigned ongoing study(ies) and project(s) to ensure protocols are met and work with the PI and other study staff to address issues in a timely manner. Specific responsibilities in the role include, but are not limited to, designing specific phases of the project with oversight from the PI, participant recruitment, IRB approval, data collection management, data security, data analysis, and protocol adherence. This position will have the opportunity to present research results in publishable form.

Required Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s degree in social or behavioral science, business or economics discipline and three (3) years of progressively responsible related professional research experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

Additional Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience working with people with mental illnesses, psychosis, substance use disorders, homelessness, and/or incarceration histories.
  • Experience with data collection and monitoring.
  • Experience preparing reports, graphs, tables, charts, illustrations, etc. that display data results.
  • Ability to travel, including overnight, on occasion.
  • Must have valid driver license by the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in relevant field in social work, public health, sociology, psychology or related discipline.
  • Experience conducting qualitative and mixed methods research.
  • Experience recruiting subjects for research studies.
  • Familiarity with spatial-related analysis and geocoding.
  • Experience conducting phone-based surveys and conducting high-volume of phone calls.
  • Evidence of strong interpersonal skills and competence communicating and working with health professionals, faculty members, researchers, and diverse groups within the general public.
  • Experience utilizing RedCAP for data collection and management.
  • Experience designing research studies and independently implementing research protocols.
  • Experience working with American Indian/Alaska Native communities in Washington State.

Monthly Salary:  $3,750.85 - $5,397.56. Commensurate with qualifications.

Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position. Successful candidates typically begin up to mid-point of the salary range.
