Position Overview

Manages the activities of personnel involved in large-scale, federal-funded research projects.  Provides work direction and technical assistance to designated personnel involved in multi-site projects, including research activities and technical assistance. Manages budgets, grants and administrative procedures, including monitoring progress of multiple sub-studies and project activities (e.g., annual progress reports, human subjects’ protections, progress monitoring of management, dissemination, data security, and other timelines) to ensure successful completion. Maintains detailed records of specific project methods and procedures, communications with district and university partners in accordance with approved protocols. Performs work under general supervision the Principal Investigator. May co-author and will facilitate the development of products including the full scope of items specified in the dissemination plans (e.g., scientific papers, practitioner papers, research briefs, social medial, presentations, and informational graphics). Will collaborate with PI to train and/or supervise research staff, and students.


Job Description

  • 20%:  Manages the activities of personnel involved in large-scale, federal-funded research projects. Specific tasks include coordinating data collection, professional learning offerings, and other project activities (e.g., scheduling project meeting for research teams across universities with Co-PIs, district leaders, school-site leadership teams, and school-site personnel meetings) per approved protocols.
  • 20%:  Manages budgets, grants and administrative procedures, including monitors progress of multiple sub-studies and project activities (e.g., annual progress reports; human subjects protections; progress monitoring of management, dissemination, data security, and other timelines).
  • 20%:  Maintains detailed records of specific project methods and procedures using structure systems (e.g., Microsoft Teams and/or SMARTSHEETS. Manages timelines to ensure adherence to human subject protocols, funding agency reporting requirements, and incremental reporting to project participants per protocols.
  • 20%:  Manages timelines and facilitates the development of products including the full scope of items specified in the dissemination plans (e.g., scientific papers, practitioner papers, research briefs, social medial, presentations, and informational graphics).  May co-author dissemination products.
  • 15%:  Collaborates with the Principal Investigator to train and/or supervise research staff, and students (e.g., time and effort certification, CiTi Training).
  • 5%:  Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of related experience
  • Minimum of 5 years’ research grants, cooperative agreement, and/or contract experience as evidenced in application materials
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience with budget projects and financial systems as evidenced in application materials
  • Expertise with Microsoft tools (e.g., Excel) as evidenced in application materials
  • Expertise with Remote Conferencing Technology as evidenced in application materials

  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supervising others (e.g., staff, students, or research personnel)
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of University of Kansas Center for Research policies and procedures as evidenced in application materials
