Position Overview
ATLAS, a research center at the University of Kansas, is seeking a research project manager to lead a variety of projects and to manage a small team of Research Project Coordinators supporting the test development team. ATLAS delivers a suite of high-quality online assessments throughout the state of Kansas as well as Dynamic Learning Maps alternate assessments in more than 20 states. The test development team is comprised of assessment development professionals specializing in the academic domains: Mathematics, English language arts, science, and English language proficiency.
The research project manager will report to the ATLAS assistant director of test development. The RPM will lead projects and manage a team of support staff responsible for fact-checking assessment components and ancillary documents, coordinating vendor and copyright permissions contracts, and supporting a wide variety of research and test development projects. A successful applicant should have experience in project management, process development, staff supervision and contract management. This is a full-time (40 hours/week), unclassified position at the Lawrence campus, with occasional off-site meetings.
Job Description
60% Lead projects on the ATLAS test development team. Activities include
- oversight of multiple workflow and development projects including planning, day-to-day operations, technical assistance, development of technical and process documentation, and refinement of development processes and products.
- oversight of the creation of small-project requests for proposals and coordination of contracts with the business management team
- coordination with content specialists on cyclical reviews of assessment components
- collaboration on center-level, cross-team workflow management initiatives
30% Supervise research project coordinators. Activities include:
- develop processes for the team of RPCs,
- maintain awareness of activities on the test development teams to ensure cross-team support from project coordinators.
10% Collaborate with test development, psychometric, technology, and implementation teams on projects related to test development. Activities include:
- providing formal and informal feedback on project plans,
- planning for resource allocation
- serving as an internal expert consultant for designing efficient processes
Position Requirements
Due to COVID restrictions, this position will begin teleworking and may transition to on-site work when deemed safe and necessary.
