JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Kapur Laboratory at The Huck Institutes of the Life Sciences seeks a highly motivated, organized, and creative Research Project Manager with a core focus on global health and infectious disease research.

This is a limited-term position funded for one year, with excellent possibility for renewal.

Roles and Responsibilities: This role requires active collaboration with a well-funded consortium of researchers in global health, and be responsible for project planning, execution, and maintenance of day-to-day lab operations, including resource procurement, safety protocol implementation, lab infrastructure management, data management and analysis.

As a team leader, the incumbent will provide training, guidance, and task assignments to lab personnel, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.

As a vital part of our mission, the manager will ensure strict adherence to applicable regulatory requirements, ethical guidelines, and institutional policies, while also cultivating effective communication and interdisciplinary collaboration within and outside the lab.

The key duties of this role include the following:

Research Project Support :

  • Collaborate with researchers and PIs on project planning, execution, and troubleshooting, providing technical expertise and guidance on experimental design, protocols, and methodologies.
  • Coordinate research activities to ensure timely milestones and deliverables, including assisting with data collection, analysis, and interpretation.
  • Develop new research opportunities in areas that are relevant to global health in infectious disease research as assigned and in consultation with PIs.

Data Management and Documentation :

  • Support researchers in data analysis, interpretation, and documentation of research findings.
  • Collaborate on research publications, reports, and grant applications, ensuring accuracy and consistency in data documentation.
  • Establish efficient systems for data organization, storage, and backup, ensuring compliance with data privacy and security regulations.

Team Management and Development :

  • Provide training, supervision, and performance evaluations for lab personnel, fostering a positive and inclusive work environment.
  • Assign tasks, provide guidance, and promote collaboration among team members.
  • Facilitate knowledge-sharing and continuous learning within the lab.

Collaboration and Communication :

  • Foster effective communication and collaboration among researchers, PIs, and stakeholders.
  • Promote interdisciplinary collaboration and knowledge exchange within and outside the lab.
  • Coordinate and participate in research meetings, providing updates on lab operations, projects, and resources.
  • Serve as a liaison with external partners, vendors, and funding agencies to facilitate collaboration and information exchange.

Compliance and Safety :

  • Ensure adherence to applicable regulatory requirements, ethical guidelines, and institutional policies, including IBC, IRB, IACUC, and export control regulations.
  • Develop and implement safety training programs, monitor compliance, and address safety-related issues.
  • Collaborate with safety and compliance offices to ensure comprehensive compliance and documentation of training records, permits, and certifications.

Other tasks as assigned.

Education and Experience: This position typically requires a Master's degree (PhD preferred) and 1+ years of related experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience) in natural sciences, physical sciences, engineering, or an infectious disease or global health-related field. Other skills include the following:

  • Experience working with MS Office 365 and conference software such as Zoom is required.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills, demonstrated ability for communicating effectively with various stakeholders.
  • Excellent time-management, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to exercise discretion, confidentiality, sound judgement, and attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently on multiple projects concurrently.
  • Consistent demonstration of initiative, able to rapidly adapt and respond to changes in environment and priorities.
  • Professional experience in running structured, multi-disciplinary programs and/or in research administration is preferred. 
  • Experience in the administration of multidisciplinary programs and/or research administration experience is preferred.

The pay range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$61,800.00 - $89,600.00
