Research Programmer Analyst I - Psychological & Brain Sciences

Position Summary
Perform innovative data analyses on neuroimaging and related data. Develop and implement computer algorithms for analyzing that data. Assume major responsibility for software and hardware development and implementation in a neuroimaging-focused, neuroscience lab. Primary responsibilities will include collaboratively performing data analyses on neuroimaging and related data, with a major emphasis on fMRI data processing and computer programming. Secondary responsibilities include software and hardware development, implementation for neuroimaging data and associated coordination of essential experimental procedures and files and potential contributions to collecting neuroimaging data.

Job Description

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Computer programming, which includes design and development of data analysis tools.
• Designs, develops, and implements computer algorithms and software for analyzing functional and structural MRI data of the brain and maintain data analysis programs developed over time for those data for neuroimaging-related neuroscience research purposes.
• Implements and supports data analysis tools; evaluate and resolve software problems for both existing and developing analysis streams for the purpose of processing and analyzing neuroimaging data and assume responsibilities for software development and effective implementation of the software for the purpose of processing and analyzing neuroimaging data.
• Trains research technicians on data entry methods and develop and maintain operational documentation of analysis methods.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions

• The work areas will be in offices in the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences and the Department of Radiology. 
• Work hours are somewhat flexible and will necessitate some early evening and weekend hours.

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficiency with standard computer programming languages (MATLAB, Python, C/C++, csh, bash) and familiarity with statistical packages (SPSS, SAS, R), psychological testing tools (Eprime, psychtoolbox) and neuroimaging software packages (FSL, SPM, FreeSurfer, AFNI and 3D Slicer).
• Experience with functional magnetic resonance imaging or other cognitive neuroscience method.
• Processing and analysis of fMRI data.
• Strong programming, quantitative, and computational skills.
• Ability to interact with others respectfully, supportively, and compassionately.
• Good organizational skills.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in related field and two years of experience or master's degree in related field.

Salary Range
$47,000.00 - $85,200.00 / Annually

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
