The Suicide Prevention Workgroup is seeking a Research Program Manager to provide general administrative and programmatic implementation suicide-related research at the Bloomberg School of Public Health and the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. Research activities include recruiting, scheduling, and conducting interviews, coordinating centralized management activities for the clinical research sites, and representing the Suicide Prevention Workgroup through marketing and networking activities. The Research Program Manager will supervise a small set of staff and research mentees, and will manage budget, regulatory, administrative, and media/communication activities for the Suicide Prevention Workgroup.

The Research Program Manager will work closely with Dr. Holly Wilcox and Dr. Paul Nestadt to manage their research portfolios, including a PCORI program comprising three clinical research sites and a set of psychological autopsy-based studies. Fifty percent of effort will be dedicated to the Preventing Suicidal Behavior with Diverse High-Risk Youth in Acute Care Settings funded by PCORI and Fifty percent of effort will be dedicated to the Psychological Autopsy/ LCA project and related endeavors such as suicide prevention through addressing lethal means access.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

• Work independently on a variety of grants and contracts that range in complexity from simple to highly complex, including oversight of federal grants and private donation funds. These grants, contracts and awards may involve highly detailed budgets.
• Maintain detailed working knowledge of all assigned protocols and reporting requirements
• Assist with budget management, proposal submissions and annual progress reports.
• Work closely with PIs and site staff to identify challenges and collaborate with Baltimore-based and CHOP and Columbia University teams to meet clinical trials targets.
• Coordinate among site partners and external collaborators, oversee coordinating hub staff based in Baltimore, facilitate meetings to solicit input form PIs and create action plans, and actively participate in scientific working group meetings.
• Collaborate with study team members to arrange interviews, analyze/interpret psychological autopsy and linked longitudinal datasets, summarize survey results and draft/edit abstracts, manuscripts, and presentations.
• Track and manage multiple projects and project-related issues simultaneously.
• Develop project plans, timelines, presentations, and checklists for various program activities
• Coordinate across investigators, regulatory, and finance staff
• Coordinate with staff at participating clinical centers and disseminate information
• Work closely with the scientific, regulatory, and financial teams to ensure timely reporting to project sponsors, compliance with all regulatory requirements, and timely reporting and publication of study results.
• Maintain electronic regulatory records for each assigned protocol.
• Coordinate with other Hopkins staff as needed for joint activities and will provide support as need for the preparation and dissemination of research activities, such as literature searches, manuscript submissions and managing publications
• Prepare and submit annual renewal requests and amendments, according to IRB and Sponsor requirements.
• Manage proposal development process for complex multi-institutional grant proposals.
• Write and edit proposal sections, collect information from partners and sub awardees, draft supporting documents/tables, biosketches, and letters of support.
• Create and maintain study databases, including REDCap and Qualtrics survey reports.
• Participate in initiatives such as training and orientation of new staff, best practices work groups, and development of Standard Operating Procedures.
• Assist with processing travel and expense reports.
• Coordinate study team meetings.
• Support other research-related activities such as: scheduling events, coordinating travel, managing funds for invited speakers, and planning workgroup and PIs' grant-related meetings
• Coordinate with other Hopkins staff as needed for joint activities and will provide support as need for the preparation and dissemination of research activities, such as literature searches, manuscript submissions and managing publications
• Assist with maintenance of the workgroup website and social media presence
• Supervisory responsibility: 2 Research Assistants and potentially up to 3 student volunteers

Special Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Detail-oriented individual to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of trends in suicide-related research and knowledge of suicide as a public health problem.
• Able to multi-task and meet deadlines.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in related discipline.
• Five years related experience. Demonstrated supervisory or lead responsibilities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Related Master's preferred.

Starting Salary Range: $55,200 - $96,600 Annually ($75,900 targeted; Commensurate with experience)
