This position will work a hybrid schedule which includes a combination of working both onsite in La Jolla and remote.

Radiation Oncology currently is a large contributor to the organizational bottom line, being a premier provider of cancer treatment. This Department is distinct from other clinical departments in that all aspects of treatment are technology-based. Technology advancements will continue to create potential business and revenue growth opportunities for both the Department and Medical Center.

Collaborates and assists in the analysis of funds, comparisons, projections, and reconciliations in order to construct, monitor, and maintain the Affiliates' annual operating budget. Develops financial projections for the annual budget, quarterly forecasts, and annual five-year strategic plan. Develops, explores the viability of, and proposes new and alternate funding sources, and forecasts existing volatile fund sources. Assists with short and long-term projections and analysis of available and projected financial resources for use in forecasting and planning of programs, activities, and personnel. Contributes to the development of office policies, procedures, and standards to ensure smooth and efficient day-to-day operations. Prepares budget projections, cost analysis, and forecasts to ensure the availability of funding and to assist/provide feedback to PIs in long-range planning. Makes recommendations to PIs in addressing potential problems. Serves as the department's custodian to monitor and track inventory equipment for UCSD's Campus Asset Management System (CAMS). Independently responsible for the department's accounts receivable and payable database.

  • Six years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor’s degree in related area plus two years of related experience/training.

  • Working knowledge of finance policies, practices, and systems. Ability to understand and interpret, with minimal supervision, general policy guidelines, making independent decisions and initiating action.

  • Ability to gather reasonably retrievable information to organize, and perform basic financial analysis assignments. Demonstrated fiscal/accounting experience, including fund accounting with ability to analyze, summarize and interpret financial data. In-depth knowledge of accounts payable, taxes, discounts, etc. Knowledge of financial management principles.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively present information verbally and in writing clearly and concisely.

  • Demonstrated ability using spreadsheet and database software for moderately complex financial analysis, fiscal management, and financial reports. Ability to develop reports, graphs and charts to explain financial issues to PIs. Experience using computer spreadsheets and database application for report generation. Demonstrated experience using computer software such as Excel, Microsoft Word, Access, and e-mail.

  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills at all levels within the unit; excellent service orientation and critical thinking skills; and attention to detail. Demonstrated ability using organizational skills to multi-task in a high volume environment.

  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities.

  • Ability to function as a member of a team.

  • Intermediate knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources.

  • Experience analyzing and preparing comprehensive budgets. Experience developing quarterly forecasts, short and long-term projections, and meeting deadlines for financial reports. Experience identifying spending patterns and projecting future expenses.

  • Knowledge of standard and computerized filing systems. Ability to maintain and cross-reference complex filing systems for rapid/easy retrieval by self and others.

  • Knowledge of inventory and disposal of UC property.

  • Strong knowledge in and experience with UC Financial systems including ESR, Cognos, Oracle, etc.

  • Experience with the principles and practices of fund accounting, cost analysis and audit procedures. Knowledge of applications of principles and practices of fiscal planning and analysis.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $61,800 - $108,000 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $29.60 - $51.72

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
