About the Department
 

One of the first departments founded at the University of Chicago was the Department of Chemistry. Since then, The University of Chicago has been the recipient of more than 73 Nobel Prize recipients, 15 of which came from the Department of Chemistry. Our current faculty have considerable strength in inorganic, organic, and physical chemistry, as well as in interdisciplinary research that delves into biology, physics, and materials science.


Job Summary
 

The job concerns performing scientific research projects in the Voth research group related to studies of proteins and antibodies using theoretical and computational techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Delineates with Voth and other Voth group members new directions of research of the group.
  • Provides help in drafting grant proposals, scientific manuscripts, grant reports.
  • Co-management of certain graduate students and postdoctoral fellows in the Voth research group on projects related to the duties of the professional.
  • Conducts literature reviews.
  • Performs molecular modeling.
  • Compiles, analyzes, interprets, and reviews modeling data.
  • Assists the PI with the preparation of manuscripts, reports, grants, and other documents.
  • Assists the PI with the planning and direction of specific phases of the research project.
  • Assists the PI with developing, amending, and auditing research/study protocols.
  • Helps to train students and others in laboratory and field research and methods.
  • Attends all required training.
  • Attends local, national, and international meetings.
  • Performs experiments and collects and analyzes data. Participates in the promotion of a research project.
  • Participates in the preparation and writing of grant applications and reports, and co-authors/authors of scientific research manuscripts. Provides peer review of grant applications and scientific manuscripts.
  • Collaborates on the development of new research projects with academic and community-based organizations.
  • Performs other related work as needed.


Minimum Qualifications
 

Education:

Minimum requirements include a PhD in related field.
