About the Department
 

The He research lab currently has three R01’s. There are three research topics under investigation which include: Role of RNA methylation in UV damage response and inflammation in skin cancer; Role of RNA modifications in arsenic tumorigenicity; Role of RNA methylation in UV-induced DNA damage repair and tumorigenesis.


Job Summary
 

The Research Professional will design experiments, and perform experiments in molecular biology, biochemistry, sequencing, imaging, using cell culture, mouse models, and human/mouse samples. They will keep careful written and computerized records of all experiments. The techniques and roles include, but not limited to: cell culture and co-culture, flow cytometry, fluorescent-activated cell sorting (FACS), DNA/RNA isolation, PCR, qPCR, RIP, immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridization, RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, ChIP-seq, and DNA sequencing, immunoblot, mouse model breeding and experiments, immunoprecipitation, mentoring junior trainees, manuscript writing, and grant writing. The Research Professional will interact with other laboratory members and collaborators under the direction of Dr. He.

Responsibilities

  • Direct research project that focuses on the mechanisms of skin carcinogenesis by environmental exposure and chemoprevention.
  • Perform complex research projects in the area of cellular biology, molecular biology, chemical biology and signal transduction.
  • Coordinate work with other scientists in the laboratory, collaborate effectively on joint research projects, and take part in lab management.
  • Recognize abnormal results and trouble shoot conditions or procedures to correct problems.
  • Adapt existing procedures to current work needs and make significant contributions to methodology.
  • Summarize results and assist in interpreting experimental findings.
  • Prepare manuscripts, grant applications, and presentations at meetings.
  • Collaborates on development of new research projects with academic and community-based organizations.
  • May present work at scientific meetings.
  • Performs other related work as needed.


Minimum Qualifications
 

Education:

Minimum requirements include a PhD in related field.
