Job Summary
Responsibilities
Directs a comprehensive program leading to the development of autologous T cell-receptor (TCR) therapy targeting cancer-specific mutations in mice as well as in patients.
Not only conducts experiments and assays but also trains and guides members of the laboratory. Collaborates with a bioinformatics group to identify the trunk mutations that are well expressed.
Selects appropriate tumor-specific targets for therapy.
Renewal and updating of existent and/or completion of new animal research, biosafety and radiation as well as clinical research protocols.
Making, ordering, training and receiving of culture media and reagents.
Preparation of sterile supplies including glassware. Training and supervision of others to take over these tasks.
Writes up (detailed design) and executes experiments discussed with the principle investigator (PI). Training and supervision of others to take over these tasks.
Maintaining a liquid nitrogen cell bank. Training and supervision of others to take over these tasks.
Guides, motivates and encourages incoming graduate and undergraduate students, postdoctoral fellows, residents and visiting researchers, and to interact productively with other faculty inside and outside the University.
Serves as a resource for collecting data and performing analysis. Contributes to facilitating and promoting a research project by providing scientific or intellectual information.
Reviews laboratory protocols and training on new techniques. Manage complex data sets for research.
Leads the contributions to scientific writing and publications, including protocols and grants.
Trains new laboratory personnel.
Performs other related work as needed.

Preferred Qualifications
Education:
A doctoral degree in molecular biology, genetics, or immunology.
Experience:
Experience in 10xGenomics preparation and downstream analyses, NSG analyses, TIL, B and T cell cultures and separation techniques, vector construction and methods for TCR transfer by viral transduction, electroporation and CRISPR-CAS.
Preferred Competencies
Excellent knowledge of cellular and molecular immunology, and genetics with strong wet lab skills in these areas.
Demonstrated independence in experimental design and execution.
An excellent knowledge of spoken and written English.
Excellent quantitative skills.
Understand the ongoing research projects and related literature, participation in journal clubs and research seminars and training.
Ability to conduct research independently.
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team setting.
Proficiency in computers, particularly data base search and data entry. Maintain procedure and reagent books.
Ability to perform the duties of other team members in the laboratory for backup, demonstration, and training.
Working Conditions
Lab environment.
Work with animals (small rodents).
Occasional weekend and evenings hours.
