Position Highlights

The main focus of this position is to doing basic research on global and southern ocean climate with the UA-MCM and manage and maintain the HPC environment and resources used by our lab, our students and our outside collaborators (DCC's). In addition, this position should draw on previous experience about climate and climate modeling and the computational aspects of numerical modeling to mentor undergraduate and graduate students.

Deep understanding of the ocean and atmosphere and the climate system - how they interact, respond to typical and atypical forcing parameteres and the strengths and weakness of the climate models for representing , simulating and projecting the past, current and future state of the global climate.Couple climate modeling on the UA HPC system - coding, debugging, troubleshooting, experiment design, data processing and archiving.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • In collaboration, design, code and run numerical experiments in the UA-MCM on the UA HPC to address and investigate significant and outstanding issues about climate dynamics in general and the earth's climate in particular. Prepare and submit publications based on this research for submission to Scientific Journals. Attend Scientific conferences to present results.
  • Oversee, maintain and manage our HPC resources and allocations for both processing and storage in collaboration with members of our group and the UITS-HPC administration.
  • Be available and make explicit time for mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through experience required.
  • Up to 1 year of relevant work experience is required.
