Job Summary
Responsibilities
- Works collaboratively with faculty members, practitioners, and policy makers to develop and implement applied research projects.
- Serves as lead on a portfolio of applied research projects focused on labor economics, including projects incorporating tools from predictive analytics and machine learning.
- Manages and mentors research and project staff, providing scientific direction and ensuring the rigor and quality of all work.
- Contributes to strategic decisions about new projects and initiatives.
- Helps draft research proposals, publications, and presentations.
- Disseminates research findings to research and practitioner/policymaker audiences.
- Interprets and collects data and trains others in the interpretation of data. Leads the dissemination of data and significantly contributes to scientific publications and grant writing.
- Leads others to solve complex problems, providing expertise to the team which includes of scientists and clinicians from the University and nationally.
- Provides expertise to identify protocol problems, inform investigators of problems, or assist in problem resolution efforts, such as protocol revisions. Provides expertise to evaluate factors such as sample collection processes, data management plans, or potential subject risks.
- Performs other related work as needed.

Education:
- PhD in economics, public policy or international development including significant training in economics.
Experience:
- A minimum of five years of relevant research experience; skill gained in school counts towards this qualification.
Technical Skills or Knowledge:
- Proficiency in Stata, Matlab and Python.
- Excellent quantitative background.
- Superior computer skills including programming in either STATA, R, or Matlab.
Preferred Competencies
- Strong writing and communications skills.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Work both independently to solve problems and as a team member.
