Position Summary
This position plays a key role in achieving the goals of the Niedfelt Nursing Research Center (NNRC) through the management and implementation of operational business activities. Responsible for the effective and efficient management of all financial research and human resource operations for the 5 College of Nursing (CON) divisions, reporting directly to the Associate Dean for Research. Duties include strategy setting and activity execution to enhance research productivity, human resource management, infrastructure project management, fiscal and business management, and other administrative/operational duties as assigned. This role functions as the technical resource and expert on financial and regulatory issues, advises assistant and associate deans, faculty, staff, and students, and ensures compliance with both university and external funding agencies’ policies and procedures for proposal submission and award management.

Required Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to problem solve by critically evaluating alternative courses of action and arriving at solutions that are best for both the CON and UNMC.
Working knowledge of related technological resources/ software to include SAP and MS Office suite.
Demonstrated style of participatory leadership that fosters a climate of respect and collegiality to include competency regarding conflict management, supervision, mentoring and team building.
Proficiency in analytic reasoning to formulate budgets and administrative policies and processes.
Demonstrated understanding of regulatory framework and internal controls and ability to apply them within the College.
In-depth knowledge of federal grant policies (e.g., NIH, HRSA, DOD). Ability to act as liaison with sponsors, subcontractors, and collaborators across the enterprise.
Self-starter with high standards for personal and professional excellence, achievement, honesty, and integrity
Proven ability to manage and follow through on multiple priorities.
Ability to lead and assist staff on a variety of complex assignments, monitoring and projecting cost and other projects.
Well-developed written and oral communication skills, accurate decision-making ability to perform calmly within a limited time frame.

Preferred Experience:
Progressively responsible administrative experience to include preparing, submitting, and monitoring federal grants, personnel management, and management of large-scale funding in a complex organization. Experience in an Academic Research Environment is a bonus.
