Research Nurse Coordinator

Fixed Term 12 month– 1 year renewable

The Stem Cell and Gene Therapy Clinical Trial Program (SCGT-CTP) in the Pediatric Division of Stem Cell Transplantation and Regenerative Medicine, Stanford University School of Medicine, is seeking a Research Nurse Coordinator. S/he will be under the direction of the principal investigator, applying medical knowledge and experience to oversee and direct screening and onboarding clinical course of research participants in clinical trials. Assess physical health and administer treatments throughout the study aligned with "Scope of Practice" delegated responsibilities. Oversee study conduct and ensure study participant safety. The SCGT-CTP is a specialized entity with expertise in phase I/II clinical trials with cellular products. Duties include:

·       Screen and onboard participants in early phase cell and gene therapy clinical trials.

·       Support the safety of study participants, and maintain communication with their families/caregivers and clinicians as a primary point of contact.

·       Provide clinical and administrative nursing support for research clinical trials based on scope of practice. Collaborate with clinical staff, researchers, outside vendors, and other staff to administer treatment and study protocols. May coordinate multi-site studies.

·       Conduct study participant evaluations according to the study protocol, assess adverse events, and apply triage and judgment to determine course of action.

·       Administer medications and treatments per study protocol for out study participant research participants. May collect, process, and ship lab specimens.

·       Comply with institutional policies, standard operating procedures, and guidelines, and prepare and submit documentation as required by the study protocol, study sponsor, and regulatory authorities. Manage essential regulatory documents and handle confidential information (verbal and written) with tact and diplomacy, adhering to all HIPAA guidelines.

·       Supervise research staff, coordinating staffing or scheduling assignments as needed.

·      

·       Identify, recruit, and enroll study participants. Document medical histories. Participate in the informed consent process.

·       Assist sponsor investigator research with Investigational New Drug/Investigational Device Exemption applications.

Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the University reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location, and external market pay for comparable jobs. The pay range for this position working in the California Bay area is $111,000. to $134,000.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

·       Knowledge of stem cell transplant and cellular therapies strongly preferred

·       Knowledge of clinical needs of children and young adults with acute conditions

·       Ability to develop, implement and modify a patient care plan.

·       Ability to provide age-specific, developmentally appropriate, patient-centered care to all patients and their families

·       Ability to work with an interdisciplinary team of researchers and clinicians to provide direction or guidance in clinical trial enrollment activities.

·       Ability to observe changes in the medical condition of participants and effectively communicate these changes to physicians, nurses and study staff.

·       Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively within teams

·       Knowledge of electronic medical records systems (preferably EPIC)

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):

Bachelor's degree in nursing or equivalent, and two years of experience in nursing, preferably in a research setting.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED):

1.      Demonstrated ability to work with research subjects of all ages and backgrounds.

2.      Verbal and written communication skills to convey medical and research-related information to research subjects of all ages and backgrounds.

3.      Ability to identify confidential and sensitive information (written and verbal).

4.      Ability to implement good clinical practices in all interactions with study participants, their families, and colleagues.

5.      Ability to identify adverse reactions to study treatments and the required study protocol documentation to record these activities.

6.      Ability to implement study protocols with supervision.

7.      Ability to provide work direction to research support staff.

8.      Demonstrated understanding of good clinical practices and regulatory compliance.

9.      Demonstrated experience with electronic data capture, including database management.

10.   Demonstrated ability to perform the functions of the position with some supervision.

CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSES:

11.   Current license as a California Registered Nurse.

12.   Current basic CPR BLS certification.
