THIS IS A GRANT-FUNDED POSITION

JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:   The Research Manager works collaboratively with Investigators within and external to UTHSC to facilitate protocol review, budgetary development, and financial management of clinical trials relating to addiction medicine. This position will also work collaborate with clinical investigators on the design, development, methods, and data analysis of research projects.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

Develops a data management plan that focuses on the collection, structure/format, coding, review, entry, validation, editing, and reporting of research data.

Coordinates the development, refinement, and implementation of assigned work for each study using project management techniques. 

Designs and develops all study databases for research lab by creating data collection forms, ensuring all data points are collected.

Collaborate with ITS department to ensure server maintenance is up to date so databases can function properly.

Formulates management techniques for quality data collection to ensure adequacy, accuracy, and legitimacy of data.

Evaluates and manages the strategic plan by evaluating and designating resources to accomplish individual project goals as well as group goals.

Establishes clinical trial budget based on available funds and manages budget throughout the study life cycle.

Tracks and manages grant accounts to ensure financial coverage of staff and project needs.

Completes employee performance reviews and makes recommendations to the Preventive Medicine Administrative Director for promotions, transfers, demotions, or discharges; counsel employees when employment issues arise and implements performance improvement plans.

Assists faculty investigators with grant development and submission.

Ensures compliance with protocols and federal regulations and Good Clinical Practices regarding clinical research across projects; ensures staff compliance to HIPAA Privacy Rule and HIPAA Security Rule guidelines across projects.

Performs other duties assigned. 

 

Qualifications

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:  

  EDUCATION:  Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Social Sciences, Public Health, Nursing, or related Health Sciences field. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)

  EXPERIENCE: Four (4) years of clinical research coordination experience including experience with data management and database development, supervision of staff, development of progress reports for studies, development of IRB applications, oversight of recruitment of subjects, advanced understanding of research methods and study design. OR Master’s Degree in Psychology, Social Sciences, Public Health, Nursing, or related Health Sciences field and two (2) years of clinical research coordination experience including experience with data management and database development, supervision of staff, development of progress reports for studies, development of IRB applications, oversight of recruitment of subjects, advanced understanding of research methods and study design.

 

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

·         Ability to respond to inquiries regarding numerous matters on a spontaneous basis.

·         Skills in scientific writing, data analysis, and database development.

·         Knowledge of research methods and study design to be able to take proposals and convert to active studies.

·         Ability to work independently.

·         Ability to multi-task and manage several projects in parallel, paying attention to detail.

·         Highly developed organizational skills.

·         Ability to manage multiple priorities at the same time.
